Stained Glass Window and Door Panels
Creating your bespoke window or door panel is a collaborative journey. From the initial consultation through to the finished piece, your ideas will be realised to create the final product

Step 1: Initial Consultation and Design Discussion
The initial consultation via email will outline your ideas and vision for the final panel.

Step 2: Custom Design and Approval
A design drawing will be produced, after payment of the non-refundable retainer, which will be used as the basis of the panel. This will include as many of your original ideas as possible.

Step 3: Painting and Etching the Panel
The time taken to paint and etch the panel can vary depending on the detail of the design. The timeline for completion will be discussed in the initial consultation. Photos of the work in progress can be provided, although some people prefer having a surprise!

Step 4: Encapsulation
Once the painting and etching process is complete, the final payment balance will be taken, before the panel is sent to our trusted supplier to be encapsulated. This can be in toughened safety glass, which conforms to BSI safety standards and is kitemarked.

Step 5: Collection or Delivery
An encapsulated panel is a heavy and precious item which is not suitable for handling by general couriers. Fragile Item couriers would need to be arranged by the client. However, collection is welcome from the studio location in Derbyshire.
FAQs
Discover answers to your questions about our unique window and door panel creation process.
I use a variety of art glass, often with a hand rolled effect on the surface, which has unique reams and bubbles in each piece. I use a wide range of different colours, from deep greens, sea blues, to fiery sunset oranges. Transparency and opacity varies, making each piece of glass completely unique due it's handmade qualities.
The paint I use is professional grade glass paint which cures onto the glass, giving a hardened finish, suitable for indoor decor.
For more protection, I recommend encapsulating the glass into double glazed units, making it useable within areas with higher moisture.
For windows and doors, I use a company that seals the glass piece into toughened safety glass with a BSI kite mark. This means the glass has been tested by a recoginised body to sure it meets certain safety and quality standards.
This varies depending on my work schedule and the complexity of the finished piece. Once the piece finished, I will contact with an expected delivery or collection date.
The panels can be any original Tanglewood Tales design, or can be created from your own ideas.
Pricing varies based on size, complexity, and materials used. A detailed quote will be given after the inital consultation when a list of what is to be included will be finalised, alongside the design drawing. This will include the cost of encapsulation if required for window and door panels.
No, this is undertaken by the client. Advice will be given if needed on best practices, but no liability is accepted for installation by the client.
A third party supplier is used for the encapsulation process. Window and Door panels are required to be installed into BSI Kitemarked Safety glass to meet current building regulations, which is the standard offered by our trusted supplier.
Local delivery within 30 miles of the studio location in Derbyshire can be arranged for a fee to be discussed in the inital consultation.
