FAQs
Find answers to your questions about commissioning, materials, and delivery times.
You can fill out the contact form with any ideas and a brief description of what you would like in your unique stained glass panel. Following this, I will send you a project brief and a quote outlining what will be included.
Once you're happy with the intial outline of the project brief, we'll move forward with a non-refunable retainer in order for me to start creating a design drawing. I'll check you're happy with everything in the design drawing, confirm the size of the panel and the colour of the glass.
The timeline to create the finished panel can vary, depending on my work schedule, the size of the panel and whether the panel is encapsulated into a double glazed unit.
I use a variety of art glass, often with a hand rolled effect on the surface, which has unique reams and bubbles in each piece. I use a wide range of different colours, from deep greens, sea blues, to fiery sunset oranges. Transparency and opacity varies, making each piece of glass completely unique due it's handmade qualities.
The paint I use is professional grade paint which cures onto the glass, giving a hardened finish, suitable for indoor decor.
For more protection, I recommend encapsulating the glass into double glazed units, making it useable within areas with higher moisture.
For windows and doors, I use a company that seals the glass piece into toughened safety glass with a BSI kite mark. This ensures the glass has been tested by a recoginised body to sure it meets certain safety and quality standards.
As above, this varies depending on my work schedule and the complexity of the finished piece. Once the piece is finished, I will contact you with an expected delivery date.
Anything over the size of 20cm x 30cm will need to be collected from my workshop in Derbyshire, because larger pieces are too precious and fragile to be trusted with couriers or postal services.
Absolutely! The website gallery showcases a variety of past commissions. You can view these to get inspiration for your own piece.
Obviously the more detail included on the panel impacts the time spent on each individual piece, and therefore the overall cost. Simple designs will cost less than a very complex and detailed design at the same size. It's a very time consuming process as each piece needs to be painted and then etched in very fine detail.
